Saakha & Universal Automobiles, sole authorised distributor of Geely four-wheelers in Nepal, is all set to introduce the Geely Panda in the domestic market. The entry-level hatchback from Geely, the GL M5, will be formally launched here within the next two weeks. Likewise, the company has introduced the latest model of the Geely CK in the market.
According to Saakha & Universal Automobiles, the GL M5 comes with a 1.3 litre DOHC 16-valve, multi-point injection engine. With a displacement of 1,342 cc, the car can deliver a maximum power output of 63 KW at 6,000 rpm and a maximum torque of 110 Nm at 5,200 rpm. The auto is equipped with a five-speed manual transmission system and has a top speed of 155 kmph.
The car has power steering with tilt adjustable steering column, remote central locking with anti-theft alarm, air conditioning, AM/FM stereo with CD and MP3 compatibility, reverse sensors and rear door child locks.
“Panda is an entry-level hatchback, and it features a very powerful engine, compared to other cars of a similar category,” said Prabal Saakha, managing director of the Saakha Group. He added that the car had very good market prospects, as it is small and has catchy looks. “This is a theme car. Both its interior and exterior make one feel like ones is observing a panda itself,” said Saakha. “The car’s looks is expected to be popular among youngsters.”
The main feature of this automobile is its safety features, says Saakha. It features antilock braking system (ABS) with electronic brake-force distribution (EBD), driver and passenger front and side airbags, ventilated front disc and rear drum-braking system and passenger seat belts, among others.
According to Saakha, the car is regarded as the safest hatchback in China. It has been awarded the title “King of Safety” by the Chinese National Passenger Car Quality Supervision and Inspection Centre. It is also the first independently researched hatchback achieving five-star performance in collision tests in China.
Likewise, Saakha & Universal Automobiles has launched the latest version of the CK in the market. The newly unveiled car from Geely is a full-option sedan car with sumptuous features like air conditioning, power steering, power window, anti-lock braking system (ABS), power side mirrors, remote central locking, fog light, surround speaker system and alloy wheels, among others.
The CK, according to the company, is equipped with a four-cylinder, 16-valve DOHC water cooled engine. With a displacement of 1,498 cc, the machine can deliver a maximum power of 98 bhp and a maximum torque of 128 Nm. It has a five-speed manual transmission system and a top speed of 160 kmph.
Saakha & Universal Automobiles is aiming to establish the brand image of Chinese automobiles in the domestic market by rolling out these two cars. “The cars will certainly change people’s perspective towards Chinese automobiles,” said Saakha. “They will prove the durability of Chinese vehicles.”
According to the company, the Geely CK sedan car is available at Rs 1.39 million. “We are selling this car with a factory price offer following a severe slump in the four-wheeler market,” said Saakha. Likewise, the full-option GL M5 hatchback car costs Rs 1.6 million and the semi-option hatchback costs Rs 1.4 million.
